Blueyonder emails

Hello, My Mom was a VM customer where she used to live and has always used her Blueyonder email account. She had a new iPad, as her old one wouldnt upgrade. She can ONLY access her BY emails on the old iPad and we have tried all ways to open the BY account on her new iPad, it just will not work. Help!

Is your mum currently a VM broadband customer?

This is a requirement to be able to continue using VM (or its predecessors) email.

VM is currently very busy deleting mailboxes which are not linked to a VM broadband account.

If your Mom is no longer a VM broadband customer then you both need to read this statement from Virgin Media.

      https://www.virginmedia.com/help/broadband/email-account-closure

By the way, when VM say "Virgin media email accounts" they are referring to all the email domains within the VM brand.

So, Blueyonder.co.uk, Ntlworld.com, Virgin.net not just the later Virginmedia.com accounts.

  • Thanks, I'll tell her.

N.B though, we are VM customers again now.

"N.B though, we are VM customers again now."

Ok but that does not necessarily mean she is out of the woods.

      1. VM stopped issuing new email accounts 3 years ago and, since then, new VM customers are no longer offered VM email accounts.
      2. It may be possible to get VM to link her old "orphaned" email account to the current broadband account but there are a number of restrictions on that.  In any event she will still need to have a non VM email account to continue using the Blueyonder account. The VM email system now requires you to have a non VM email account as the username for your VM email account.

Sorry to sound negative but the long term future of the VM email service is unclear. If she has an iPad I would suggest that an Apple iCloud mail account might be a better option to go with.
