Blueyonder email hacked

Hi,

one of my BY email accounts has been hacked, my password was changed so I could no longer access it from my 3rd party software.  I managed to generate a new app pasword and that works with my 3rd party software, can the hacker still access my email with the password they set?

I ask this because my other BY email account is still working with an old password, not an email app generated password. I would like to change this too but this email is not listed on the email app generation page. How can I change it?

I am also concerned that the hacker may still be able to read my emails, using the old password, can you confirm that the old style password is no longer in use when an email app password is generated? I tried test this with my other BY account but as I previously said I am unable to generate an email app password for it?

Thank you

Duncan

  • I've managed to answer my own questions

I found that, apart from my wife's VM login, I also had another login, so I used that and found that I was able to generate a new email app password for my other BY email account.  Because of this I can confirm that after generating the email app password the hacked password would have stopped working.

Hopefully this might be of use to someone else

    Thanks me

    Duncan

But if someone is already authenticated, i.e. their using IMAP to access the mailbox, does it terminate their connection immediately or leave it active for a period?
