Remember you could lose everything at any moment!

(Same as with anything in life!) v6 box went kaput suddenly, the engineer has replaced the whole box and all my beautiful hundreds of hours of saved stuff is gone forever!

Oh WELL maybe i should take this opportunity to update the software to 360? What’s the current thinking on this, is it still widely regarded as a “downgrade” or do most people now think it’s worth yhe plunge?

  • You only just realised that everything is lost? we can not take anything with us when we go either.

But on a serious note I made the switch and did the update for my V6 box to 360 software about 6 months ago. I had errors during it and it was a pain but basically the error I had was because the system did not automatically approve it even though It should have done so. So I could not update the box until I got help on this forum and someone told me to ring them up and ask them to approve the request or something.

You had to order the remote which they sent via the post. Once you got the remote then you should have been able to update the box but in some cases like mine they need to manually approve it at their end so you can proceed to update.

Honestly I stream most things now anyway online and I rarely record things anymore. So it was not really a loss for me. Yeah it lacks a lot of features what TiVo had but the UI is super clean and nice to look at. The voice feature is useful but very basic. Like something from 2010 lol. It is not like Alexa or ChatGPT. It is like a really bad AI from 2010 lol.

It is entirely your choice. Personally I think it is worth it.
