My package is due to rise 8% in April also, pushing the cost well over £1000 per year so I will reviews that. My VM 18 month contract expired recently, which was £63 and now going up to £92 in April, a rolling contract, but I do not want to lock in for 18 months with exit penalties at the moment.
The removal of landlines and moving to digital phones means less options available to choose now and in my area there is only VM fibre. Other broadband companies only offer low speed of 10mbps which is very slow on the old copper ADSL wire system, so not any alternative provider.
There are other options such as 5g/4g broadband from masts, but it depends if it is available, my area does have it so may consider that in the future
It is worth haggling to get a lower cost, or just use broadband only without tv which is cheaper.
I do need the VM services which are very good, but now very costly considering mine is a service with a few extras added on, just the mix tv and unlimited phone calls and broadband 125mbps so I will review it later perhaps.
The differential between a fixed contract and rolling contract is approx 35% or approx £25/month, but I do not want to fix as I may be moving area. New customers can get big discounts, but you have to leave for a year to be able to get that.
An earlier post pointed out that you can only upgrade a package online, and not downgrade without ringing up which is stupid.
