Windows laptops not connecting

Am having issues with Windows laptops connecting to the internet both on WiFi and Ethernet cable into the 5X hub.

This has been ongoing for weeks now, some days they connect and stay connected or they connect and ten seconds later they say ‘no internet’

There is nothing wrong with the laptops WiFi settings as they work in our me wife’s and my offices without any problems. The laptops have the latest drivers and are a mix of ASU’s, Dell and HP on Windows 11.
all other devices such as iPads, Macs and MacBook airs work ok as well as IOT devices on the network.

have tried everything, we work from home a lot and this is a complication we don’t need.

I have just found the ‘secret’ Modem mode on the Virgin 5X, switched that on and now my windows laptops have connected ok on my Deco system after putting that in router mode

  • Spoke too soon, it worked for a week and now back to Windows devices not working, saying no internet. Other devices are OK, including cheap smart light bulbs 😡

    how do I fix this?

No internet often hints at a DHCP failure. When the Windows devices do not work check what IP / Gateway / DNS / Mask is being used by the problem laptop(s) / PCs  i.e. is it a configuration that should work, or has the Windows device self allocated an IP that might look like 169.254.xx.xx

        Hi Granthar,

Thanks for posting, and sorry to hear you've had some connection issues.

Are any other devices having a problem connecting?

Have you been able to follow the advice from Client62?
