WiFi pods

Can anyone tell me how to speak to a person. I have a WiFi pod that I was sent to improve signal for one area but my son has been struggling with connection. I’ve moved that first pod to near him now and it works great but now I have the initial problem back! Call me old fashioned but I just want to talk to a person and not a bot! 😊

Pods only work when they get a good signal.  If you put a Pod in an area of weak or non existent WiFi, it will not work.  You may need an additional Pod.

There are no "direct" lines to VM, you just have to persevere with the AI bot.  At least you are not alone in not wanting to talk to a computer, there are many posts here with the same subject.

A VM Mod is going to ask what was the "initial problem" ?

I'd suggest put a few sentences on that to aid your cause.

Erm, if I put it here will it add it?

I struggled to get WiFi in the workshop in the garden for the security camera. The engineer wasn’t sure if it would work but he sent one out to trial and it did.

        Hi Beckygwood,

Have you tried adding a second pod via My Virgin Media?

        Info below from /virginmedia.com/uploads/Wi_Fi_Max_POST_21_JUL_2023_v3_059b6b25db.pdf

If you have received your first WiFi Pod and once you have set it up you are still not receiving download speeds of at least 30Mbps in every room, you can request a second WiFi Pod by signing into My Virgin Media, clicking on Your Package and following the steps in the WiFi Max tab

Perhaps your home is like ours too large or layout unsuited for the use of VM Pods which are just  Wi-Fi Repeaters.

To cover a dozen rooms on two levels and a garage we have a VM Hub and two Wireless Access Points, plus we have network sockets in four rooms.  The Wireless Access Points are in the places where they are most useful, the network sockets are used for printer / scanner, VoIP phones and Sky Q plus are used for MS Teams calls which can be poor over half duplex Wi-Fi.

Using VM Pods or Wi-Fi Repeaters it would not be possible to create an equivalent solution, the locations where the VM Pods would work would not reach to where we require solid Wi-Fi signal coverage, commercial Wi-Fi Repeaters would have the same issues.

  • It's worth noting that when using any Mesh network, your network speed will be halved per Pod between your device and the router.

For example, if you get 100mb when connected directly to the router, it will be 50mb when connected to a Pod, then 25mb if you have two Pods to form a connection back to the router.
