WiFi Pods

So my WiFi Pod arrived last night about 9pm, I'd read on another forum that there was no need to merge the bands before plugging the Pod in, in fact the instructions that came with it just said plug the pod in nothing at all about merging first.

Plugged in it seemed to complete the process in around 10 minutes this is where I then started to panic. My 5ghz band had disappeared or I thought it had.

When I got the hub a few years back I had renamed the SSIDs  to for example 123456-2 and 123456-5 to distinguish between the 2.4ghz and 5ghz this is what confused me because the SSID it was using as the now merged bands was 123456-2. A few tests later and I knew it was this using both as required.

It turns out the during the Pod set up it merges the two bands. Then I had to go through the process of typing the WiFi password in every damn device I have.

Anyway it seems to be doing the job now.

Hope this helps anyone else who sets these things up and clears any confusion for you.

Despite what you thought, the Pods need the Hub to be as “out of the box” to allow the “Intelligent” WiFi to work.  If it’s not, then the Connect app with do this for you and change your WiFi settings to suit.  Personally this is why I use modem mode and my own WiFi solution.

So are you saying I should have done a pin hole reset first? Anyway it seems to be doing it's job for now, it was just one room that had the signal problem. I'd purchased a Sonos roam to use in said room and every now and again it would drop out.

      Appreciate your input👍

Perhaps “out of the box” was a tad misleading.  I meant the SSID should be merged etc.  Most users just leave the Hubs as they get them, so the Pods work straight away.  More experienced users like yourself change these things so the Connect app will do what it needs to do to “fix” the issue.  As I said, I prefer to configure my own WiFi solution.  ;-)
