WiFi pod causes cracked socket

I’ve had a Wi-Fi pod upstairs for about a year and it has done a great job of boosting the signal around the house. However tonight I noticed quite a loud buzzing / fan noise from the pod. Worried about safety I turned it off and unplugged it from the wall, and noticed it has caused a massive crack across the socket, rendering it highly unsafe. I’ll have to call an electrician and get them to install a new socket. I’m not sure what to do about the pod. Obviously don’t want the same thing to happen again!

Do share photos of the damaged mains socket and the failed Wi-Fi Pod.

The VM Pod is the property of VM, they may ask for it back at any time in the future and attempt to charge a fee if it can not provided - so hang on to it.

  • I also have this issue. Brand new socket in extension cracked. Tried the pod in a different socket in case the socket had been damaged by something else and that one is now showing a crack to. Very disappointing.

      Seriously...

...perhaps try the defective VM Pod in every socket of the house and see how long it is before the Fire Service are needed !

I would suggest not trying any more sockets. Please share some photos of the affected sockets and of the pod. How long have you had the pod?
