Hub 5 Password

I currently have 8 character password and want to retain it as all my smart home devices are on it.

the hub 5 wants 10 is there a way around this it is so stupid wont let you have 8 but will let you disable security and have none

every step with virgin is a headache so far

there must be a way around it!

The VM hubs require 10 or more characters for security, I use 24 on my system. It’s also to stop that well known 8 character password of ‘password’.

  • So why allow no password then? makes no sense i happy you have 25 cha password you must be godlike but I'm happy to use my old 8 cha one so should be allowed.

also seems you cant disable WIFI without going in to modem mode seems daft to.

You can disable the Wifi - Turn off Smart Optimisation, and untick both bands.   However if you have the Connect app, it will reset the Wifi back on.

Using a retail Wireless Access Point or a retail Wi-Fi Repeater,
would enable you to re-create the preferred SSID + 8 char Password for the IoTs.

Many IoTs are 2.4GHz Wi-Fi only, so it may not need to be a costly device.

The desire to use the 8 char Wi-Fi password has so far kept well hidden the known issue
that many IoTs & Smart Plugs are totally incompatible with the 2.4GHz Wi-Fi 6 signal of the VM Hub 5.

"many IoTs & Smart Plugs are totally incompatible with the 2.4GHz Wi-Fi 6 signal of the VM Hub 5" it’s mainly due to the way keep alive handshaking is done. My router manufacturer strongly advises that at of these type of devices should be on a separate VLAN and have a dedicated SSID with most of the tailoring parameters not used.
