Wifi issues when playing games on my computer.

Hi I use my computer in my bedroom which works off the Wifi but everytime I try playing online or offline games i keep getting disconnected from my internet.. Sometimes i have to reboot my computer to reconnect to internet/ wifi service. I have used websites to do internet test speeds and they tell me the speed of my wifi is between 160 and 185mps. Also that my ethernet cable speed is between 360 and 480 mps. So i tried the Virgin Media Connect App to run same tests and surprisingly (or not) it tells me my Wifi speed is 383mps and my ethernet cable speed is 543 mps. I tried calling technical support by phone but keep getting disconnected before i can speak to any Human being! This wifi d/c issue has been happening for 3 months now! PLEASE can somebody help me with this? I have updated all drivers on my computer so that can't be the issue. Thank you from a frustrated customer.

have you tried connecting the computer on a new Cat6a ethernet cable to see if the problem persists or is cured.

Once you know that you can decide how to continue.  Either make the ethernet connection permanent (best!), improve the wifi signal, or troubleshoot a real network connection issue

  • Hi Tiptop1969

Thanks for your post. I'm sorry to hear about the broadband issues you've been facing and the poor experience overall.

I've had a look at your services and can see that your downstream levels are outside of the normal parameters, which will causing you issues with speed and connection stability. We'll need to arrange a home engineer visit to put this right.

I've dropped you a private message so I can book this for you. 😊
