Websites not loading

I have been having issues with a couple of websites that I cannot access, unless I turn off my Wi-Fi. One stopped working on the 9th March and now another .

When I couldn’t access spa valley railway I rebooted my router, deleted my history and cookies on my iPhone, turning it off and on again but the “block” was still in place. The only message I get, is that safari couldn’t open the page because the server stopped responding. It won’t load on my iPad or anyone else’s tech.

Do you smart people out there have any idea what has happened and how it can be put right. Please be kind as I am not desperately tech savvy and have a few heath issues that slow me down.

Many thanks in advance for any help

So by turn off my Wi-Fi you are not using virgin media?

maybe VM DNS is in hot water again

Correct on the not using virgin media.

      Is there a solution?

You could set to use another DNS like 194.168.4.123 or 1.1.1.1 or 8.8.8.8

In your VM Online Account, make sure Parental Controls are turned OFF.

Do check this, don't assume just because you have not recently enabled this,
Mr or Miss fingers at VM has not been tinkering behind the scenes.

If Parental Controls are not the answer, share the links to these website and we can also try to access them and see what else may be amiss.

I did check account control settings yesterday. Just double checked and  parental controls are off..

Sadly, the links you have posted don’t work on my iPad

Just “borrowed” my neighbours WiFi (sky) works fine. Still won’t work on mine!

Both links work for me in Edge and Firefox.

Try in Safari private browsing, I believe that will bypass the VM DNS and use Cloudflare DNS.

Looking at the Safari browser screen shots, access to the website does not appear to be the issue.

Is there some kind of advert blocker or cloud security program or is apple relay corrupting the response from these two websites ?

What happens in a different web browser ( Chrome / Edge / Firefox / Opera )
or on a different device ?

I recently downloaded Firefox, it uses Google to search, I get the same results, unable to load.
My husbands iPad and iPhone mimic my results. If I turn off the WiFi on my devices, they connect. If I use the personal hotspot feature on my iPad, which uses 4G on my iPhone, it connects. If I borrow my neighbours WiFi it connects to these websites on my devices.

Using the Firefox browser set it to use the Cloudflare DNS.

For my Firefox that is :

Menu >>> Settings >>> Privacy & Security >>> DNS over HTTPS, select "Max Protection" using Cloudflare

If this makes the websites work, VM's Parental Controls
may look to be off but have not disengaged.

Share a screen shot of the error messages if this fails to work.

I don’t know if you missed a step out there but I get into privacy & security and then nothing that relates to DNS over HTTPS.

iPad and IPhone both ISO VERSION 18.3.2

Sorry, I don’t have the smarts to locate this. The steps don’t take me to where I need to be on my Apple devices. In my defence I have MS and I had a tooth extracted today.

      I appreciate your help.

I don't have an iOS device, to guide you with more precision.
