Virgin pods - can they be reused?

Recently got set up with virgin, unfortunately the cable access point in our house is tucked away right in the very corner on the ground floor so the router is about as far away from optimally placed as you can get. This means the signal is really strong for about a quarter of the house, decent but could be better for a little under half the house and really bad for the remainder, which just so happens to be where most of the bedrooms are with the rest bar one being in the mid zone. The previous tenants left some boxes with Virgin Pods, one of them unopened, is it possible to reuse them or is it worth just buying a 3rd party extender?

Another option we have might be to rout the signal through the house's internal TV cable network, at which point there is a much more optimally placed outlet for that I could use, but I am yet to find an access port near the cable connection to rout the signal into.

  • Hey bhierg0, thank you for reaching out and a warm welcome to the community, I am sorry to hear this.

Normally these pods are resisted to the equipment in the house so they probably won't work but it is easy to order your own.

You are free to try it though.

The best way to get a pod order is download the Virgin Connect app, from here do a scan.

If the scan picks up that you need a pod it will allow you to order some.

However they can be chargeable depending what package you on.

They are free on Volt, 1GB or Oomph bundles.

Also do you mean the port where you connect the hub to? Cheers

It is worth buying a Wireless Repeater if VM are going to charge £8 per month each for a VM Pod.

It is also worth considering for a £25 fee, VM will book an engineer to run new cables to enable the Hub to be moved to a more preferable location in the house.

So basically, charge you for them not doimg their job properly in the first place?
i.e. The engineer should have been able to say the best position in the property to get the best signal.

What makes you think it was an engineer install?
