Using Eero 7 Max as Router?

I’ve purchased a Eero 7 Max and plan to use it as a Router for WiFi,

Once I put my SH5 into a Modem mode, is there anything else I need to do apart from plug and set up the Eero?

  • Follow this sequence:

1️⃣Enable Modem Mode on the Hub 5

Log in to the Hub 5 admin page using 192.168.0.1. Go to Advanced Settings → Modem Mode, and switch it on.

2️⃣ Power Off the Hub 5

Unplug the Hub 5 for 2 minutes to ensure a clean restart. Optional but you should do it IMHO.

3️⃣ Power On the Hub 5

Plug the Hub 5 back in and wait a few minutes while it boots and establishes a connection with VM’s network. You'll see a solid white light once full connected.

    4️⃣ Eero Ready

Make sure your Eero 7 Max is powered on and in “Ready to set up” mode (usually a flashing blue light).

    5️⃣ Connect the Cable

Use an Ethernet cable to connect the WAN port of the Eero to Port 4 (the 2.5 GbE port) on the Hub 5. Note: Any LAN port will work, but Port 4 supports higher speeds if your plan and devices can take advantage. The Eero now gets a valid WAN IP from VM’s network on the first try as the hub is connected.

    6️⃣ Complete the Eero Setup

Open the Eero app to do any setup.
