Unable to set Hub3 to Modem mode
I’ve purchased a Deco X55 wifi mesh system, although I haven’t plugged it in yet, so that has nothing to do with the problem. But in preparation of setting it up I’ve tried setting the Hub 3 to modem mode. I connected via Ethernet from my Mac to the top/1st Ethernet socket on the hub. Connected to hub and set Hub to modem mode. Hub shows it is in modem mode but there was no resetting or changing of lights on the hub. Waited 10 minutes but still didn’t restart. Switched hub off and back on. Hub reset and accessed Hub via Ethernet and hub was showing as being in modem mode, but I was still able to also connect to my Guest wifi Network. Then lost Ethernet access to the hub and wifi (which I shouldn’t have had anyway).
Switched the hub off and on and waited for it to reset. Then accessed hub via Ethernet. It was painfully slow to load and put it back into router mode, but again it didn’t appear to reset after 10 minutes and I had to switch hub off and on. When it came back up I had Guest Network but not the main wifi network. Couldn’t access the hub via wifi or Ethernet. Then lost wifi completely again after a few minutes.
Connecting to:
192.168.0.1 in router mode
192.168.100.1 in modem mode
Repeated the process of switching the hub off and restarting a few times, with the same result. Finally I had to do a factory reset to get wifi working.
If I can’t connect to the hub via Ethernet does that mean the hub is not working, or is this normal? I don’t want to start setting up the Decos until I know the hub is working in modem mode.
