TP Link extender causing original network to be slow and intermittent

TP Link booster installed and a new network was created.

Now the original Virgin network is extremely slow or doesn't work altogether - but still shows up as an option to connect to.

(The TP link extender does not always show up as an option to connect to)

Not sure if this will make sense to anyone - any advice very welcome - I'm struggling to get through to an actual person at Virgin!

Wat is the model number? Did you purchase it? Have you read the instructions for it? Extenders should not create another network. Do you mean a separate WiFi SSID?

  • There are many questions here!

Are you using different SSIDs? Is this an access point or a "repeater"? Do you have DHCP disabled on the TP link?

If you turn the TP link off, does it all return to normal?

If this is a TP Link Wireless booster that is connected to the Hub via Wi-Fi, make sure it is not also connected to the Hub by a network cable. Double connections to the Hub would create a network loop that would result in a traffic flood & very poor to unusable performance.

  • Hey bex2525, thank you for reaching out and a warm welcome to the community I am sorry to hear about this.

I can see since this post you have also spoke to the team have they helped at all? Cheers
