Slow speeds / high ping
I appear to be having slow internet speeds and high ping when gaming (anywhere between 40 - 80).
On my wired PC I am getting about 95Mbps up and 36Mbps down. On my laptop (wireless), I am getting 82Mbps down and 35Mbps up.
I have the below setup:
- Virgin Media Hub 4 is in modem mode and is connected via Ethernet to a Deco M4R (which I assume is your main router or access point).
- From the Deco M4R, an Ethernet cable runs to a Switch 1.
- Switch 1 is a TP LInk SG105 (5) has connections to:
- A Hive Hub (for heating).
- Switch 2.
- My PC.
- Switch 2 is a D-Link DGS-1008P/B 8-Port Gigabit and has connections to:
- Camera 1 POE camera.
- Camera 2 POE camera.
- Camera 3 POE camera.
- Camera 4 POE camera.
- A NAS (CCTV Storage).
- Connection to Switch 1
- I have another Deco M4R downstairs, which is connected wirelessly to the main Deco M4R to extend the WiFi network. Deco M4R downstairs has a wire into our Virgin Media TV box.
-
The reason I started with the mesh in the first place was following recommendations of a Senior Virgin Media Tech back in 2019 when I had persistent internet problems.
-
How can I optimise this as the speed drop seems quite sudden?
I am on VM 350Mbps package
