Short connection drops & disconnects while gaming

Hi!

I have been experiencing issues with the connection dropping for about a month now. The gaming experience is rather atrocious as I am unable to predict why/when the drop will happen, I can only see this has happened when checking the network log under router status.

BQM shows small packet loss but not at times when the connection drops.

Only thing related are timestamped 27/12/2024 01:32:7 & 27/12/2024 00:17:11 as those are the times I can remember getting disconnected and taking a note of the time. The issue has been going on for about a month now and at 2 separate properties. First property already had VM, second property which I just moved into had a new installation. The symptoms however are the same, I have tried resetting the router and all the usual steps I can think of.

I will add the upstream and downstream in a separate post.

My issue is similar to what is described in these 2 forum posts

Your down power levels are all on the low side - albeit in range -  -6 to +10 dBmV

As are your UP power levels - range is 35 dBmV, to  51 dBmV - although can work normally a little outside of that range (as are yours).

You need someone from VM to look at your connection to ascertain whether that is causing your connection issues - they will get here in due course

Use of a VM Hub with Auto Channel selection enabled on Wi-Fi caused repeated random dropouts during every channel change. The fix was disable Smart Wi-Fi, and use fixed Wi-Fi channels 1 or 6 or 11  and 36 or 44.

  • Ill give that a shot, I already disabled smart wifi. I will report back with the findings in case the issue still persists

    Thanks!

Unfortunately that did not solve the issue, still the same disconnect.

        Hello jak25.

Thanks for your first post and welcome to our community.
Sorry to hear you're having an issue with connection drops while you're gaming.

We've checked the up and downstream levels from here and they are all in the required range.

Can we ask if other devices lose connection at the same time?

How is the gaming device connected to the Hub?
