Replacement super hub 3 configuring

I have just received a replacement Hub 3. I am trying to change  the wifi network name and wifi password on the new hub to those from the old hub by using 192.168.0.1.

All goes well until it gets to 5 GHz WiFi configuration. I can change the SSID but everything below that is greyed out. Is this normal and OK for me to go ahead?

Please do not advise I use the Virgin Connect app I have spent the last hour trying to do that and it will not play ball.

Thanks for any advice that is offered

The VM Connect app will prevent you from adjusting the Wi-Fi of the Hub.
Go ahead and uninstall the Connect app, being closed is not enough to prevent it tinkering with the Hub settings.

In the Hub 3 menu   Advanced Settings >> Wireless >> Wireless Signal
bottom of the page, Disable the Smart Wi-Fi / Wireless Channel Optimization option,
this will enable settings changes for the 5GHz Wi-Fi.

Thank you but that has made no difference; security  and wifi password still  greyed out

More than likely you will need to factory reset the hub & start again.

And after the factory reset you will need to turn off the Smart WiFi again.

( 5GHz ) Security and wifi password still greyed out

When I change the SSID of the 5GHz band the Security and Password are re-enabled,

If the 2.4 & 5 GHz bands have the same SSID the Security + Password of the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi is used for both bands.

  • Thank you all for your comments...after taking the dog for a long walk to calm my frustration I logged into my hub again as per VM help "Changing the WiFi network name or password" Once I reached stage 3  I completely ignored the instructed steps regarding advanced settings,, went to Configure your WiFi network  section and hey presto everything is up and running.
