Red light on Virgin Media hub 3

I have a red light on my Virgin Media Hub 3. The hub is not overheating and is in a well ventilated area. The problem is now two days old after an intermittent fault. The broadband appears to be working normally both WiFi and ethernet connection. Why am I not seeing the normal white light on the front of the hub? Should I be worried? We have tried resetting the hub several times to no avail and this has not helped.

It’s normally a fault with the hub. Please do a pin hole reset and if the red LED persists then the hub will need replacing

  • Hi Dane2

Thanks for posting and welcome to the community.

Apologies for any issues with the Internet and the red light.

Have you managed to do the PIN reset on the Router? If so and it's still the same red light, let us know. We can send an engineer round to replace it :).

    Best wishes.

Hi John, I have done the PIN reset and I still have the RED light, so I presume the router is faulty.

  • I have had the very same problem as you for the last 3 days. Will be interested to see what the outcome is. Sounds like it's a VM problem.

  • I'm available now to try and resolve this red light router problem?

If the red LED persists after a pinhole reset, the Hub should be swapped out. This red LED is the overheat warning and should be working correctly. It is a potential risk and as such should be managed as such.

  • My router red light problem is now resolved.  The Forum arranged for an engineer to examine and test our router and he determined that the router was on the way out. We got a new like for like router and I now have a fully functional internet again.
