New contract, more issues (Hub 5 1gig)

So I recently upgraded to 1gig from M500. I was using a Hub 3 before. All my devices were compatible with it no problem. Today I setup the Hub 5 and everything works except for my laptop. When I do "search available networks" it finds a bunch of other VM routers in the street, and various other connections from EE and Three etc, but can't even find mine. I presume all those routers it's seeing are Hub 3 or Hub 4 and the issue is that my laptop isn't compatible with Hub 5

I tried to add network manually on my laptop.but the option doesn't let me add a password it just asks for the network name and then asks for the type of security (open, wep, wpa 2 etc)

If I connect an ethernet cable the laptop connects to the Internet but just says "connection 2" and the speed is 100mbps. My phone shows 900, my ps5 shows 600, my ps4 shows 160-170. The firestick also connects to it no problem

Another issue is that the ethernet cable that is coming from the back of a tv box into the last router...I've plugged that into the new router and now I can't get it out. It feels like its just stuck there forever and can't be removed without breaking something. I don't want it there because I don't have a tv package anymore

Finally, do I have to return the Hub 3 router ASAP? Is there some cut off time they need to recieve it by? I've had this router for like 10 years or something so not sure why they want it back. Considering it worked with my laptop and the new one doesnt, I'm reluctant to do so as I'm paying for a service they can't give (1gbps speed on my laptop). Also my family has VM routers so if theres are hub 3 too...meh

I dont know what happens from here in terms of negotiating a new contract either (if i want to stay but go back on M500 and keep the hub 3). If I cancel this within the 14 day cooling off then what happens? Am I completely free of them after this new hub gets disconnected? I'm only asking because I saw something in the T and C about "we reserve the right to put you back on the previous service / monthly charges if you leave within the cooling off period" so kinda confused. Wish I had never accepted a new contract, and wish I had never gone with virgin in the first place

Any help appreciated as the phone lines weren't any help as usual
