NAS drive not being recognised by router

I've recently moved home and have a Hub 5 in my new place (previously was with BT). I've tried a direct ethernet connection between my QNAP NAS drive and the Hub 5 (as I had in my previous home) but that didn't work. Followed the advice of another thread on here where a 10/100/1000 switch was recommended, which also doesn't seem to be working (to confirm - NAS connected to the switch, switch connected to the router).

Any suggestions here?

  • Once logged into the NAS either set a static IP address outside DHCP reservation range or, better in my view, fix the IP address within the DHCP reservation range which by default is 192.168.0.10 to 192.168.0.245 (so that the DHCP server won't allocate it dynamically).

Have you changed the IP addressing on the NAS to suit the new VM network?  BT uses a different set of IP details from VM.

BT uses 192.168.1.xxx and Gateway 192.168.1.254 whereas VM uses 192.168.0.xxx and Gateway 192.168.0.1

I can't actually log into the NAS drive at all to mess with the settings, as my router seemingly isn't providing a network connection.

Oh my it is always VM fault and in this case it is not.

You could have easily changed the IP of the NAS to the VM IP range 192.168.0.xxx before disconnecting it from the previous ISP's Router. You still can if the previous ISP service is still running.

Assuming it is not, if your NAS is configured for say 192.168.1.100 for a BT Router,
set your computer to a static IP of 192.168.1.90 temporarily and now RE-IP the NAS onto the VM Range you can use 192.168.0.5.

I don't recall a reason ever being given for deletion of a post.

Was the missing post a lengthy AI-generated reply? If it was, your own reply was deleted along with a couple of other posts regarding relevance IIRC (and by the moderators, I assume).
