N5 Router Reset

Had problems with my N5 router. I couldn’t do a factory reset to correct some network issues. I pressed the reset button for 60 seconds, then, after being told it should be held for 90 seconds, did that, then did a factory reset via the router setting page, but every time it remembered my network ID and passwords, so in my mind it could not be fully reseting, so I eventually got VM to send an engineer who changed some connections and installed a new N5 router. When it set up, guess what? It remembered my network ID and passwords. The engineer had no idea how VMS customer service worked. Anyone on here have any ideas?

If you are using the VM Connect app it can setup the Hub as previously was, even if you dont want it to.  If so remove the app from all devices and reset the Hub.

It is not documented to reveal if the previous Hub's settings are being re-applied directly from the Connect app
or via the VM Platform, but I suspect the latter as the Connect app gets access to VM Hubs via VM back end platform and by using the VM online a./c credentials.  ( i.e. Connect app does not need the VM Hub password ).

So I'd use the Connect app to disable the function that preserves the previous Hub settings
and then uninstall the Connect app.

The Connect app continues to be an endless source of aggravation and frustration.

  • Thanks for all the help, the problem was the connect app, my problem has now been sorted, my wifi pods channel was clashing with my Hive hub, I had to call Hive to have a hub reset,  this corrected the issue, Thanks again.
