MS Remote / Azure Virtual Desktop connection reliability issues

I am unable to work from home in a reliable manner. My company issues MS Remote Desktops or AVDs which we connect to remotely. These are hosted by MS in the cloud. Nothing to do with VPNs, the company's network or anything like that. One simply uses the Remote Desktop app connecting over port 3389/3390. When it works, it works, well and fast. However every 5-10 minutes, the virtual desktop will freeze. Sometimes it takes 10 seconds for it to be restored, sometimes 2 or 3 minutes.

When I'm away in a hotel or tethered to my mobile, there is no such issue. The issue only occurs at home when I'm using my Virgin Media broadband. My laptop is hard-wired to a network which is connected to the router. However, even on Wi-Fi, I have the same issue.

Anyone seen this before?

*connected to a network switch which is connected to the Virgin Hub 5 router.

Do not have other devices connected to the switch try that

      is it a unmanaged switch?

VM only tests one device (one source MAC) per port on the hub when in router mode

Having VM Parental Controls (was Child Safe) enabled is known to cause connectivity problems.

Having VM Smart Security enabled in the Connect app causes DNS redirection & DNS timeouts on a Router mode Hub 5.

What we seen reported before are issues where company firewalls block / interrupt traffic from the VM network, this is a matter for work's service desk to check out and resolve.

What, even intermittently? I get it might cause a connection not to work at all but in my case it works most of the time.

This one sounds more like an intermittent issue however I don't use the Connect app. Didn't even know it existed.

As stated above, the remote desktop is not based at my company's office or datacentre, it's MS hosted.

        Hi nadimaj,

Thanks for taking the time to contact us via the Community. It's lovely having you on board with us in the Forums. ⭐

We're sorry to hear you're having issues when connected to a server needed for work. This isn't something we can support with I'm afraid due to it being a non VM server, and you using 3rd party switch equipment. It may be best speaking to your works office/IT team for help and support on this.

Checking things this end, your hub is showing online, the power and signal levels are optimal and there are no faults in the area affecting you either. Are you having issues when using your connection on a normal basis?

Pop back and let us know.

        Thanks,

    "normal basis?"

Connecting to an MS server IS on a normal basis!   Using Outlook or Teams is using an MS server.
