Modem Mode Instability – TLV-11 Config Rejection with Static IP Block
Hi,
I'm using a Virgin Media connection in modem mode with a static IP block assigned to me. My setup uses OPNsense as the main router/firewall behind the hub.
Every few days, the modem loses connectivity entirely and only recovers after a full reboot. When this happens, I see the following recurring errors in the modem logs:
Config File Rejected due to Invalid or Unexpected TLV 11
TLV-11 - unrecognized OID
I've configured my WAN interface statically on my firewall, based on the IPs provided. However, it appears the modem is rejecting the config file — possibly because it's expecting a DHCP-based handshake.
I’m requesting:
A review of the config file being provisioned to my modem in modem mode with a static IP setup.
Confirmation that static IP assignment via DHCP reservation is in place and expected behavior for my account.
This has been persistent and disruptive, and front-line support hasn’t been able to assist. I'd appreciate this being escalated to someone on the provisioning or network engineering side.
Thanks in advance,
Sam
