Junction box

Hi, my router is on the 3rd floor of the house and my TV box is on the ground floor and connected by a weak WiFi signal. On the outside wall of the house near the TV is the external Virgin Media fibre junction box. Can a Cat cable be run direct from the junction box to the TV to get a better signal?

Most VM TV boxes require two connections, a coax cables that uses type F plugs and a broadband connection, either WiFi or Ethernet cabled. The box behind the TV and the box upstairs will have cables from them to the outside Omnibox where a splitter on the incoming coax is located.

No. VM do not use Ethernet (cat) cable and will not install it for you. What you need to do is run an Ethernet cable from your VM hub to downstairs. If you cannot do it yourself, any electrician should be able to do it for you. The cables are easy to hide behind down pipes. If you also want better WiFi downstairs you could install a wireless access point.

Thanks Tudor. Perhaps you can answer another question. Bear in mind the connection was made nearly 20 years ago and has not been changed since. Behind the TV on the wall is a white Virgin junction box with a cable coming out of it then on this cable is an adapter which converts the cable to a short coaxial cable which then is plugged into the coaxial socket on the box. I have no idea what this does as it appears that the box is connected to the router via WiFi. So the question is, is this wall junction box connected to the router? and if so can the short coaxial cable from the adapter be changed to a Cat 5/6 cable and then connect to the Cat socket on the box to get a better internet connection?
