It's goodbye from me after 25+ years

I first joined when it was United Artists then Telewest then VM. I stuck with it through the worst. I've had the same home phone number with them for 25+ years. I reckon I am a good customer as my monthly bill is over £180 (although my renewal contract comes up at £130).

I was thinking that I didn't need some of the services on my account but they were handy. I have Homeworks, and I thought that was access to an engineer next day for broadband problems.

My service is off completely since lunchtime today. No TV broadband or home phone. There isn't a general outage in my area. Earliest an engineer can come is tuesday, but nobody will be in and I shouldn't have to wait that long anyway.

I've taken the opportunity to rethink my services and decided that the best thing is give someone else a chance. I know the grass isn't always greener but I have unlimited 5G data on phone hotspots so I can manage while I change over, that's even if I need to. Already done a port request for the landline.

I guess the last straw is that you pay for something (homeworks) that isn't then delivered and I currently have no services at all functioning. It has given me an opportunity to think why I need all these services and I will save a lot of money. So thanks VM for the wakeup call. I'm not complaining it was just the push I needed.

Bye!

So what happened in the end? I tried to switch to Sky via One Touch Switch but autocancelled each time. Rang Virgin who said it was not possible as I had a work order ongoing, and I could either cancel the work order and try again in a day or two, or have the fix done and ring up again to give 30 days notice. Agreed to hold off and get it fixed yesterday. Checked why no engineer arrived yesterday and it turned out VM had simply cancelled everything without telling me. Went back to Sky who had already sent a TV box and gave an install date and they had cancelled the install as well because the one touch switch failed. Cancelled them as well.

I switched to Vodafone instead. I don't really need a TV service as everything I watch is on my smart tv apps anyway. Why not give a different provider a chance and realised I didn't need to spend all that money on TV services anyway. I am well rid of VM.
