Goodbye to my 18 month contract

I tried online to add a TV pack to my bundle.  Clicked on PLACE YOUR ORDER and nothing happened.   Phoned customer services and the agent took the order over the phone.   She said all new contracts are for two years now .  Seems this has been the case for some time although it's the first time I've experienced it.   Virgin has followed in Sky's footsteps.   Ironic really because the 18 month contract was one of Virgin's better selling points.

Two year minimum terms are not something I have noticed being mentioned on here recently. All the offers I can see right now on the VM website show 18 month terms.

The claim by the call handler has more than a ring of something made up on the go by the sales agent.

I've just found a post dated two years ago about Virgin locking in their customers for two year contracts.

I can't think of any reason for the agent to have made it up. What would have been in it for her?   She even reduced the monthly payments by £4 against what I would have paid if the online order had gone through.  Not a huge amount I know but it all helps.

  • So you aren't saying that the VM call handler was lying are you; surely not!
