Intermittent WiFi for 8 months

Hi,

we’ve been struggling with intermittent WiFi now since April so going on over 8 months. Virgin Media continue to say there isn’t a problem despite several others in the area struggling with intermittent WiFi too.

weve had three engineers round and they all don’t know what the problem is and suggest to do different things or have replaced equipment - no changes. Our last visit was beginning of Dec and still no changes.

im getting no where with Virgin Media, we’ve been offered no compensation and are stuck in a contract until next year. We are paying over £50 a month for a service that is unreliable and I can’t work from home because of it.

can anyone offer any advise or help as I’m losing the will to live now as I’m getting no where

You've mentioned only WiFi. Do you have any devices connected to the Hub with ethernet cables, and if so do they connect reliably?

On the whole the Ethernet connected devices are okay, although having said that I was using the Ethernet this morning and it dropped out about 3 times in the space of 30 minutes. That is rare though as it is mainly WiFi devices

Well that looks clear, apart for the brief spike at midnight. So it does look like an internal WiFi problem rather than the broadband feed.

What speed are you on, which Hub? How far are your devices from the Hub? Do they drop out even very close to it?

We’re on the 1GB package with the Hub 5 I believe.

it is mainly my work laptop that struggles when I am working from home and will drop out several times in the day. I thought it was my laptop but when I work at my parents for example it doesn’t do it! It also drops at home wherever I’m working, even if I’m right next to the router - drops for about 30 seconds and then it’s back and will do it again and again.
our sky boxes drop off the internet frequently also and have to keep setting them back up as well as our signal booster that we have downstairs (not a VM one)
