Hub5X guest wifi device isolation?

Hi, I bought new video doorbell (Tapo D235) and hub (Tapo H200) - idea was to connect these to guest wifi network on my Hub5x and record doorbell video locally on the hub. When set up and connected to the main wifi network both doorbell and hub connected without issues and local recording worked fine too. When I changed the network on both to my guest wifi suddenly would get connection errors saying couldn't connect as the two devices were on different networks -but I could see in router log both were on same 2.4ghz guest wifi.

Does the Hub5x guest wifi network have some device isolation restriction by default and is there a way to change that?

I still don't want guest wifi devices being able to access my main wifi but want the doorbell and hub to be able to talk to each other and record on the guest wifi. On my old TP Link router there was a setting to enable guest wifi devices to talk to each other but can't see anything similar in the Hub5x settings screen

Thanks.

  • Yes correct the hub, doorbell and mobile (with the tapo app) were on same guest network at the same time. I tried logging on to guest with my laptop and ping either hub or doorbell -all pings though coming as Destination host unreachable so seems as though device isolation is enabled.

How can this be disabled on the Hub5x guest network?

The Guest network can not be reconfigured, it is not intended for this purpose.

Don't put hub and doorbell on guest network

Is it correct to assume the  (Tapo D235) and hub (Tapo H200) and your mobile with the Tapo management app were all connected to the Guest network as the same time ?

With a laptop / PC connected to the Guest Wi-Fi, see if you can ping the Tapo devices,
if you can not that would suggest Access Point Isolation is enabled.
