Hub 5x Installed – No Modem Mode? What Are My Options Now?

I’ve just had Virgin Media fibre installed and I’ve been given the Hub 5x. I’ve since learned that modem mode isn’t available and it’s not possible to use my own modem/router in a proper bridge setup.

For my setup this is a major issue, I run multiple VPNs, custom routing and need full control of my network. The Hub 5x in its current state is basically unusable for my needs.

I’m just trying to understand what my realistic options are now:

Cancel the contract and move to another provider that allows bridge mode

Check if Virgin Media Business can offer a proper modem/bridge solution

Or… is there any confirmed timeline for Hub 5x to support modem mode?

I want to stay with Virgin if possible, but without modem mode or the ability to use my own router properly, I’m not sure what the best path is.

Any guidance or official updates would be appreciated

Use your own router in bridge mode to extend the network with a LAN to LAN connection and connect all devices to your router. Ensure that your router's IP address is outside the hub's DHCP range, its DHCP server is disabled and its subnet mask is the same as the hub's (which is 255.255.255.0).

Just double NAT don't use the hub wifi or other ports but one disable the hub wifi even its the only way VM will know they wasted money on the hub  5x as a useless router mode again.

Perhaps the lack of modem mode for XGS-PON is why it is not offered as a VM Business product.

I’m just trying to understand what my realistic options are now:

    1) Cancel the contract and move to another provider that allows bridge mode

But do so very promptly in the VM cooling off period to avoid hefty disconnection fees.

    2) Check if Virgin Media Business can offer a proper modem/bridge solution

VMB connections are all DOCSIS, i.e CATV HFC or RFoG.   Zero XGS-PON options.

VM do not have alternative an VM Hub or ONT only solution that has modem mode.

    3) Or… is there any confirmed timeline for Hub 5x to support modem mode?

There is no time line, not even a distant backlog task for Hub 5x to have Modem mode.

Subtle changes to the wording of VM Moderator comment have made it quite clear VM are not working on providing Model Mode for Hub 5x and never will.
