i am using Hub 5 in modem mode and using my own ORBI 970 with Satellites setup very Happy with this setup no issue for wife at all. But in future if in my area they offer trail HUB 5X my question is CAN WE PUT HUB5X in modem mode too? before its not available and waiting for firmware upgrade is this done by now or still without modem?
The HUB 5x is for FTTP areas, so it won't be available for trial unless your area is moved to FTTP.
At this point in time, there is no modem mode for the Hub 5X. But as carl_pearce has noted, the area will need to be changed over to FTTP and that could be years away.
Not true, my 5X is running in modem mode, it has been since I got it installed 6 months ago.
ohh same as hub 5 ? simple straight forward as we put hub5 in modem mode ? please clear i dont wants to upgrade tp hub5x untill i 100% sure because currently i am using hib5 in modem mode with orbi970 . and i dont wants to loose my orbi setup please let me know i appreciate your response
After selling XGS-PON for two years+ VM appears to have totally abandoned the idea of supporting modem mode for the Hub 5x.
VM provides no modem mode for the hub 5X and I think this will be so for a very long time. However I think there is a prospect for the ONT being developed for Giffgaff.

In the menu of the XGS-PON Hub 5x there is no Modem mode option, this is unlike the DOCSIS Hub 3/4/5 that all have user options for Router or Modem mode.
However, having logged in to a Hub 5x menus it is currently possible to use the URL below
to access the page that VM have intentionally hidden :
http://192.168.0.1/?page=modemmode
Using this hidden link to enable Modem mode will not be supported by VM.
Note in a very recent post fronty mentioned it can take days to get a WAN IP allocated during which time they use a GSM backup device.
Any one know what changes software 7.8.3-2410.5 brings for Hub 5x ?
