HUB 4 loosing Internet connection

Since today having issues with HUB 4 :

I use it in modem mode (been like that for over a year, never had issues). This morning noticed not any device could access internet .

Rebooting the HUB sorted the issue for a couple of hours then issue appeared again. So every couple of of hours the HUB needs rebooting.

I tried to log into the HUB (wired)  i spotted a strange ip assigned to my device in 169.254.xx.xx, and i could get to the admin page via HTTP. after reboot it went back to 192.168.100 and could log in.

The hub keep its green light all the time, like there were no issues.

What the hell is going on, why the hub is doing that?

Is the hub in modem mode?

Do you have a router to the hub? what is it?

Connect just a PC to the hub in modem mode when working connect PC to your router and change in WAN settings the WAN  MAC to your PC MAC then connect router to hub.

If 169.254.xx.xx was assigned to your device that mean DHCP failed but that would be on your router? is your router LAN 192.168.0.x ?

It was when i connected directly via cable with a laptop to the hub lan port.

My ASUS router was even switched off when i did it so no wifi interference, it s really from the hub.

I launched a monitoring tool from the internet towards the hub and see it looses connection to it until i reboot

The hub is in modem mode, i connected my laptop vua cable diectly to the hub lan port, switched the asus router off to avoid any wifi interferences.

So the hub failed dhcp then, i could even not access the web  maintenance page wired to it, only after reboot.

From the internet this us the situation

The HUB had an update 3 days ago as a surprise.

    Hello,

So i connect directly my laptop to the HUB 4 ETH port via a cable, my external router is not in play here i switched it off for the test.

    1. Initially when connected by cable i could not access 192.168.100.1
    2. I could not ping the address 192.168.100,1
    3. My assigned ip was the one in 169.254.xx.yy
    4. Rebooting the HUB i could ping and access 192.168.100.1 and my IP was 192.168.100.4

Steps above i can repeat every time the issue happen.

I set an internet monitor to see what happened over time :

Wrong.  Disconnect the Router and reboot the Hub with only the laptop connected.

That would be entirely possible, the laptop didn't get an address and windows just used a self assigned IP address.

This is also wrong.  The IP on the laptop should be a VM WAN address.  You possibly need to leave the Hub switched off for around 5 minutes before powering back on with the laptop connected.  The VM CMTS does remember the last MAC address, so if you don't disconnect the Router and leave enough time before powering back on, your laptop will not get a WAN IP address.
