Hub 3 overheating
On Friday afternoon I noticed that the light on my Hub 3 was red, which apparently indicates that it is too hot. It felt warm but not excessively so. It's never exposed to direct sunlight and there's plenty of space around it for ventilation. I opened the nearby patio door to let in some fresh air. Later in the evening the light had gone back to white but the following morning it was red again. After Googling the issue a number of threads on this community came up. I've tried the suggested remedies:
- I turned it off earlier today for around an hour to let it cool down but when I restarted the light was still red.
- I then performed a factory reset but this hasn't helped either. After the reset I was having some issues connecting to WiFi so I turned it off again for a bit and was able to connect after restarting but the light remains red.
Do I need a new Hub?
If the red LED persists after a pinhole reset, the Hub should be swapped out. This red LED is the overheat warning and should be working correctly. If you wait here a couple of days a VM Mod should pick this up and discuss directly with you.
