Hub 3.0 Red Light

My hub 3 is used in modem mode, as soon as it has a connection to the internet the light is red.

We're getting constant internet dropping. The hub is in an open area so air flow is good, is this an overheating warning?

Thanks

Also, after it has been running for a few days I can't access the hub from 192.168.100.1 even though the internet can still be working?

The LED in modem mode is magenta, so could be reddish?  Have you tried rebooting the Hub prior to accessing the Hubs console?  Have you tried a full 60 seconds pinhole reset and set the Hub back to modem mode?

I have rebooted yesterday, and then I could access the hub again. The light is definitely red. This morning it was back to no access, I have now done a pin hole reset and reboot.
Back to access but with red light.

Mine is definitely red in modem mode. Whatever the other colour was for router mode was off on mine also. I think it must have a faulty LED but everything works fine.

Mine is red in modem mode too, the LED seems to be wear out over the years and gradually become red rather than magenta.

Try switching back to router mode and if the light is white once it has connected, everything is OK.

IMHO the problem is the aging LED’s in the old Hub 3.  As the LED ages the colour range goes and it seems to end up red.  As this is the overheating warning VM can’t afford to take a risk, as it’s a Health and Safety issue.  So they are caught between a rock and a hard place.  The Hub may be fine, but then again it may be a genuine risk.

  • Hi Picassopigeon,

Thanks for taking the time to contact us via the Community. It's lovely having you on board with us in the Forums. ⭐

We're sorry to hear you're having an issue with a red light on your hub. As you're in modem mode, this will unlikely be down to a overheating issue.

When the hub is in router mode, is the light still red or does this change?

Let us know so we can help further.

    Many thanks,
