How to switch off service notifications

Several months ago I subscribed to text message notifications in relation to a broadband outage in my area. Since that was resolved, I have been unable to switch notifications off and I’m receiving several text messages a day. How can I terminate the service?

  • Hey MD2024, thank you for reaching out and a warm welcome to the community I am sorry to hear about the outage.

If you are still getting SMS about this, that means the outage is stll active.

How many are you getting per day?

        Hi AnaAlexandra,

Thanks for your post and welcome to our community.

If you registered for the outage updates, these will be sent automatically if there are any known issues in your postcode region.

If there are no area issues, you shouldn't receive these.

If you have any further questions, please pop back to us and we'd be happy to help.

  • The outage was back in October!  The last set of messages (x 4) were on Dec 12th. Between me registering for notification’s and Dec 12th I was getting between 2 and 20 updates a day. Just please completely remove my phone number.

  • We had a short service interruption late last week (around Friday 21st March) my wife asked for text message notification when service would resume.  Service was back to normal about 25 mins later, great. There has been no problem whatsoever since that interruption.

However, since then my wife is getting at least 6 text messages every day to say the broadband and TV service issue is ongoing.  I've checked the Service Status on my account and yes it indeed it states the issues are still on going.

We have spent the last hour going round and round in circles after ringing 150 with the promise to put me through to an agent, only to be asked once again what the problem is?

All I want to do is SPEAK to someone to see about cancelling the notifications even if the problem is ongoing (although we have no issues ourselves).

Virgin is it too much to ask!!!!!

Thanks for reaching out to us petecoss47, and thanks for coming back to us.

Sorry to hear of the frustration this has caused you.

Check out the envelope in the top right hand corner for a private message from me, and I'll see if we can arrange for these notifications to be stopped.

      Thanks,
