Ethernet Cable Disconnecting/Reconnecting

Why is my virginmedia HUB 4 disconnecting and reconnecting my ethernet cable to my TV, twice each time on three or four occasions during the day. Happens approximately same time each day.

Cables and connections OK, HUB and TV rebooted several times regularly all to no effort as the issue continues on.

Also happening to several friends who are also VM customershere in Portsmouth.

Advice please.

  • Happens to me in liverpool, engineer visit has reduced the frequency of the dopouts from daily to a few days a week,  but still experiencing drops in the evenings at the same approx time of quarter past the hour eg 7.15.

Oh and when reported to call centre staff 1st line support off shore it showed how lacking in knowledge they are, I tell them broadband drops affecting devices connected to hub via ethernet cable, they try and fix wifi issues even when I repeat to them its not a wifi issue but a broadband issue!

  • Hello Alnevett.

Thanks for your first post, and welcome to our community.

Sorry to hear about the issues with your Hub4 losing connection.

Can you check the service status checker on our App https://virg.in/myvmapp or call the phone version on 0800 561 0061 to see if there is a known area fault? If nothing is listed, please let us know.

Already did all that but they say no issues reported on their side. I check service status regularly and still reporting all OK. Even used My VM and VM Connect, both of which do show any issues except poor WIFI on some devices almost out of range.

So why doesn't VM provide a proper user friendly tool in their hubs to record stuff just like Microsoft Windows Error Log?

How long does it take for VM customer service to monitor and reply to posts on this forum?
