EBay WiFi pods - can they be linked to my account?

I have one WiFi pod but have thick walls and a fairly large house. So I bought 2x virgin wifi pods from eBay listed as new but never used. I’ve tried to connect them but they won’t. I’ve now googled and think they are linked to the sellers account by virgin prior to them sending out? Is there any way of resetting them or getting them to connect to my account?

worst case scenario I’ll return them as the seller makes no mention of this and states in the advert they are suitable for uk use and will extend range of connection.

any help or advice is welcomed!

thanks

AFAIK VM won't link second-hand kit in that way. Send them back via eBay for a refund.

VM will expect the original user to return the pods upon leaving VM and will charge the original user if they are not returned. VM's current price guide states up to £86 per pod for non-return!

There is no Virginmedia equipment that can be reused after buying on eBay.

Internal and external VM wall boxes seem to be the thing on ebay at the moment.

  • Thanks for reaching out to us benjic78, and a very warm welcome to you!

Sorry to hear of the issues with the Wi-Fi pods you have purchased.

These should not be sold on a 3rd party website and returned to Virgin Media after use.

We would advise obtaining a refund for the pods purchased and reporting the seller to EBay for this action.

In regards to the Wi-Fi issues you're experiencing, can you please confirm what speeds you're getting in the troublesome areas of the property?

    Thanks

Hi David. I’ve returned the pods and have a refund.  I have a problem upstairs and most of the time when I try to run a speed test in the room it says it can’t complete the test so I get no result. When I move downstairs and run a test it then works

        Thanks for the update benjic78.

Can you please confirm if you've been attempting to do the speed tests via the Virgin Media Connect App?

If so, this should allow you to request Wi-Fi pods to be added to your account and sent out to you - without charge if working with a 1GB download speed, or if you have an O2 sim card connected to the package and thus offering Volt benefits.

If this is below 1GB and Volt benefits are not present, this would incur an £8.00 monthly charge for Wi-Fi Max to be added to your account.

        Thanks,
