Coax extension

Hello, I have installed a new coax cable within my home to relocate my router, the cable is run from the isolator to a wall socket. A total of 5M at most. When I move the router to the new location, I can’t get an internet connection. The cable tests ok, has anyone experienced similar? I suspect a loss of signal strength, is the a recommend booster or can it be resolved in the router settings?

Exactly what kind of coax cable did you install ?

Via the Hub menu at http://192.168.0.1/

Check there is an RF Signal reaching the Hub.

Look at the Upstream / Downstream status tabs for signal levels and numbers of channels connected.

The only permitted and satisfactory coax cable is supplied by Virginmedia. Any other cable may cause problems like this, and other issues you won't be aware of.

Move the Hub back with the original cable, and get VM to install it properly and adjust the signal levels. There is a fixed charge of just £25.

  • Hey Jamesr92, thank you for reaching out and a warm welcome to the community I am so sorry to hear this.

Any 3rd party coax cables will not work with our equipment as mentioned it would to be a cable which is provider by us.

We can look at moving this for you, however there would be a one off charge of £25 would this be okay?

    If so let us know.
