Broadband issue not being fixed

My broadband has been down since Monday morning (20th Oct). Apparently there is a known issue in my area. It was originally scheduled to be fixed by 1pm today (22nd Oct) but this has now been pushed back to the 28th! My husband and I work from home. I need to make regular Teams calls and he’s just set up a new business and needs to be available online at all times. What do we do? We just can’t be without internet for over a week?!

  • Why have you got a residential connection? VM Business with both the 12 working hours resolution and the 4g Constant Connect bolt ons would fit your current circumstances better. In the mean time you will need to tether /use a 4g router with an unlimited sim.

With your residential connection there is no guarantee of quick repair. All you get is some compensation after the first two days without service. For business use you must have something better or a standby connection.

Correct.  There are no SLA’s for Residential only Business contracts.  A backup is therefore essential.

  • I wasn’t aware of business packages. As with most people we just transitioned to home working during the pandemic and have kept the same package since then.
But what I think you’re saying is that even though I pay the same price as a business contract, and there is clearly a way for Virgin to resolve issues sooner, they won’t if you’re on the wrong contract.
