Are power levels on upstream low?

Hi,

I have a Virgin Hub 3 and I have experienced a couple of disconnections over the weekend. I believe I have a FTTC and then Coaxial from the cabinet to my property. I had a similar problem back in June where a moderator of this forum kindly arranged an engineer to visit and they stabilised my connection. The engineer replaced some component in my terminal box but did comment there was other components which appeared old and may need replacing in the future.

Anyway, I just wanted to post my stats and have a sense check from someone more knowledgeable than myself to tell me if my hub stats are an early indication of any problems.

Here are my upstream figures (the Power signals were consistently about 42dBmV a month ago. The figures below are consistent and have been like this over the last 48 hours although sometimes channel 3 modulation says "32 qam" rather than the 64 it says now):

TL;DR = Do my upstream power signals look dangrously low and are they degraded enough to warrant an engineer to come out?

The VM Hub varies its Upstream transmission power level to meet the demands of the Street Cabinet.

What changed recently to enable the lower Upstream signal level to be received satisfactorily by the Street Cabinet ?

E.g. has an attenuator been removed from the coax, or some of the coax replaced, etc ...

Back in June I think the cable from the back of the hub to the white box on the wall was replaced, possibly something in the terminal box itself (where the coaxial enters my property). However nothing has been changed in the last 4 months around the set up within my home.

I didn't know the hub was able to adapt to the conditions of the street cabinet, good to know.

Upstream are below the specs I have unless you are on a RFoG connection. That said you have no T3 or T4 errors on the upstream, so that’s good. Downstream errors are fine, you must expect some. What missing is that you have not posted any 3.1 stats for either upstream or downstream. Are you very near the street cabinet? If so perhaps you need moving to another tap. Finally, apart from some drop outs, do you have any other problems?

No other problems apart dropout. Speed/latency seem fine. I'm probably about 300-400 metres from the cabinet.

I don't have any 3.1 stats available in my hub, I only have a docsis 3.0 connection. Can you clarify where I should expect to find these stats please?

        Hi ajh79,

How have things been since you posted? I've ran through a few checks from our side, and there are no issues showing.

Are you able to perform a pin-hole reset, and report back on if there's any improvement?

24 Downstream channels is the tell for a DOCSIS 3.0 connection with a Hub 3.
