Recordings breaking up plus other issues

In the last few weeks I have had some problems with my V6 box including:

recordings breaking up and unwatchable, same with pause live tv

problems accessing ITV X

Sky sport red button not working anymore

regular black screen lasting 4 to 5 seconds

V6 box sometimes fails to switch on without a reboot

all getting a bit annoying considering the monthly price paid.

    Breakup on recorded content including paused TV, indicates a hard drive problem.

    That's enough to merit a box replacement, but you've not explained what the problems are with accessing ITV-X? And same question for Sky Sports red button "not working" - how so?

    Primary fault reporting is by phone, but forum staff should be along in a day or so otherwise.

      Thank you for your response, itv x is a varying fault, sometimes it works and other times it loads the requested programme then goes through the ads and then fails to continue and goes to a black screen.

      sky red button very similar.

        We're sorry to hear you're having some issues with your V6 box. Checking things here, your box is showing that a few things needs to be addressed. We won't be able to fix this remotely so I would like to arrange for an engineer to come to take a look at this for you.

  • Box changed by VM engineer so all looking good now, still have the black screen issue for 4-5 seconds at a time, changing to the VM cable has been suggested so will try that if long enough and report.

      Hi Ashburnian​ 

      Have you tried altering the V6 video settings to see if that stops the 4-5 second black screen problem? (It sounds like the frame rate or resolution is changing such as when switching between a live TV program and adverts, or between an app such as netflix and live TV)

      Help & Settings > Video Output > Change Settings

      Try enabling only the following:- 1080i, 1080p passthrough, and  2160p passthrough

        Thanks very much for your suggestion, I will give it a try, it’s very intermittent, some days it does not happen, others it can happen three or four times a day. I think it is on 2160p at the moment. I should also have mentioned it is used with a Denon av amp.

  • Update on 4-5 second black screen issues, the cable left by the VM engineer did not seem to work so went back to my cable and using a suggestion given by a member on here I.e. in settings enable only the following:- 1080i, 1080p passthrough, and  2160p passthrough, so far no problems and still monitoring.
