Pixelation
I have also been getting very bad pixelation on Portrait Artist of the Year on Sky Arts. When watching the recording it is very broken and and overlays whatever channel the box is on.

There's no technical reason for a channel to be pixellated during a specific programme and not otherwise, unless there's RF interference or something similar that only happens to occur during that programme's time of broadcast.
Are any of your other recordings having problems with picture breakup?
Hi ajo
Thanks for posting and welcome back to the community. Sorry to hear of the TV picture issues.
From checking here, the TV box is showing offline so we've not been able to run any diagnostics sadly. Please can you ensure the box is on and we can run those?
In terms of self-checks, please can you check all the cabling is finger-tight, no kinks/cracks in the cabling. Also check the HDMI cable, try a new one if you can and a different HDMI port on the TV, just to rule that out as being the issue.
Best wishes.
Thank you. My message replying in a thread that seems to have disappeared unless I made an error.
The box must have been in low power mode. The box is on now and should for a while.
It's usually better to start a new thread than adding to someone else's.
This forum isn't a real-time support service, replies can sometimes take a day or so. If you're using a V6, then make sure your box is not set to "Eco low-power" - "connected low-power" is a safe one to use, enabling remote access in standby.
It actually is on Connected Low Power mode. Odd how it was showing as offline.
Could be that the box is developing either a hard disk fault, or it is a software glitch. You certainly should not be seeing live (which is possibly the buffering of the channel you were watching) & previously recorded content at the same time.
First thing I would do I cold start the box. Turn the power switch off at the back & leave it off for 10 minutes. Then switch on again & allow it to reboot.
If it continues to happen with newer recordings then the only option is to get the box replaced.
There are quite a few mentioning break up on the sky channels on the forums.
If there was a national or even a regional fault, there would be dozens upon dozens of posts about it.
What I suspect you're seeing is a cluster of users with single & separate issues, but the natural "me too" instinct kicks in. I've made a sample recording of the "Artist of the year" programme that's been cited as one example in some threads, and it was perfect.
Status page says
Code 408 usually affects OnDemand playback. The symptoms you've described thus far are of live TV being pixellated.
Are you saying you also have problems with an OnDemand programme?
No as I am not a Virgin tech and have no idea what any of the codes mean I was just mentioning what the status page says to see if it can help in this issue any further. On the last check on demand did work, although Sky Arts was not working a couple of days before that. The code is still there.
This has happened twice recently, both times on the same channel and on the same program.
Post moved... again
For some reason, mention of this issue keeps on getting moved, rather than keeping things tidy and being able to aid each other. Take a look over here - https://community.virginmedia.com/discussions/Virgin_TV_V6/pixelation-on-portrait-artist-of-the-year-on-sky-arts/5679838
I've recorded the programme in question on my V6, and have also viewed Sky Arts live - I haven't been able to replicate the problem.
If there was a national fault, this would not have been the case. Which part of the country are you in?
Try following the advice from nodrogd above, before proceeding any further.
I am in Bristol. I have followed the steps. It has happened on the same channel and program twice for me now, as well as others. Will tomorrow if it happens again. I did not mention it being a national fault, only that others are mentioning the same channel and program.

To quote the previous post then... "If it continues to happen with newer recordings then the only option is to get the box replaced.". At the very least, you should follow the fault reporting process in order to get a tech visit. Either wait on this board for a staff team member to respond, or call in 0345 4541111/150 from a VM landline.
Can you be more specific about what "as well as others" means? Any additional detail may well help the staff team when they pick up your post. It might just also assist other regular users to spot a pattern that you may not be aware of.
I'm also in the Bristol area thus fed from the same regional head-end as yourself. That means your fault lies somewhere between the regional distribution & your V6 box. Any fault external to your home would affect every customer who shares that same section of network - thus making anything from street-cab upwards more unlikely.
I count 4 mentions of the same issue, on the same channel on the same program. We have all tried to keep this forum tidy by replying in an existing thread about the same problem and as @oracle57 said, to aid any investigation. But for some reason japitts keeps on moving each mention of this to a new thread.
Here are other mentions of the same issue: Pixelation | Virgin Media Community - 5679388
Pixelation on Sky channels | Virgin Media Community - 5679356
For me this has happened twice recently, both times on the same channel and on the same program which does seem odd.
