Part of an ongoing trend, & a good reason to record anything you want to watch (while you still can) rather than using catch-up. ITV along with Channels 4 & 5 are introducing a paid for tier on their On Demand services that will allow you to escape the adverts alongside getting exclusive content. This brings them in line with other streaming apps & ensures they don't lose out on revenue from advertisers.

Yep, well aware of that, but my question was more about whether this has changed, which is still present on https://www.virginmedia.com/virgin-tv-edit/tv/itvx-how-to-watch-and-best-new-shows-and-movies

Hi stavkebabs44, thank you for your post.
At the time of publishing that article (1st February), the information was correct. The situation has since changed.
Regards,
Daniel

Can you please post up a screenshot of that email? Showing the date and the FF claim.

The email doesn't state about fast forwarding through ads, it does however provide a link to the tv edit page <<< here >>> which was published/updated on 20th Sept, which contains the fast forward info.

That includes the release date. You will need to scroll down to para 5 to see the text I pasted in above.
It just wiped out my last reply, but last night I could FF on ITVX. One-off or a change? Who knows?
I also don't know why sometimes when you FF you see the image whizzing by and other times just the cursor advances on the bar and the picture remains the same. Any thoughts?

Anybody on the Maxit tier having problems being unable to FF through ad breaks should list the programs so we (other users) can test them
People on the Mixit tier will still have add breaks which don't allow you to FF, however from what I can see those on the Maxit tier can FF through the ad breaks. I'm on the Ultimate Volt package which includes Maxit TV and have just tested Smallville (the pilot episode) on my 360 box using ITVX and was able to FF through the adverts.
The Live section on ITVX includes all of ITV’s linear channels, so watching any live program will still include ad breaks so you can't FF those programs.
ITVX has an optional 'Premium' tier that removes the adverts for £5.99 a month. On the 'Premium' tier some shows and films will keep showing you adverts, even if you pay – due to licensing restrictions. This will also apply to the same shows and films on the free tier.
The 'Premium' titles are primarily American shows, which when it was first introduced included titles such as Family Guy, The Sex Lives of College Girls, The 100 and more, along with many American films like Wonder Woman, Despicable Me and Back To The Future.
I've just tested Family Guy and the 100 through the app on 360 and the good news was that even though I'm on the free tier, with having Maxit TV, I was able to watch both of those programs without ad breaks. When I tested those same programs using ITVX on my terrestrial TV I was unable to FF at the beginning of those programs or through ad breaks.
There will still be programs/films that due to licensing restrictions still don't allow the FF function through both the free and Premium versions. You can also contact ITVX <<< here >>> if you have any queries.

There are clearly some changes at ITV's end - I'm on Maxit-TV and when this first got raised, the ability to FF was indeed met with "not available" on my V6. Testing just now and it's working again.
This is certainly a reminder to "record record record" whenever possible.

I agree about recording rather than relying on apps, or catch up/on demand. Plus a lot of on demand/catch up have short expiry dates.

I'm not looking forward to a few years time when FreeView will have been replaced by FreelyTV as I'm betting that won't support recording and you'll just be directed to the catchup service for anything not live, complete with unskippable ads. I'm sure Sky and VM will have long since gone down the same route as well.

As the OP, I'm pleased to report that the ability to fast forward through ads has returned. In my case, this is for 12 Monkeys, which is the only thing I'm watching on ITVX right now, where recording isn't an option.

I was able to FF on ITV x until my package changed from Maxit to Mega.
