Early hours recordings

My box doesn't record programmes at the time the programme is on but prefers to record them in the early hours of the morning. However when it records them in the early hours for some reason they are unwatchable as they are badly pixelated. If they record at the time that I actually set them to record they are fine. How do I make the system record the programme at the time the programme is on eg 9pm and not 2am in the morning.

The V6\TiVo box will attempt to record the first showing of a program that it can, obviously this is usually (but not always) be the main evening showing. Is it possible there are multiple other recordings going on in the evening that prevent it recording at that time?

You should also be able to check the "Recording Hiccups" menu to see why it has not recorded the evening showing.

As mentioned in the previous post, TiVo recording logic always records a programme on the first-available slot, so it sounds like you're setting a series link for a later showing, and the SL is finding an earlier one. This only applies to series links and not manual one-off recordings.

Quite a few Sky-channels will have first showings in the small hours, and the prime-time broadcast is technically a repeat. The C4-suite of channels tends to work the other way around.

If you have picture pixellation, that's a fault. Are you saying that particular channels are broken up overnight, but are fine during the day?

Yes, they are fine at the normal time so in the evening but in the early hours recordings say 2 am they are quite pixilated and unwatchable

If your signal levels are perhaps borderline, then it wouldn't be unusual for pixellation to vary. For it to be so rigidly predictable is most unusual.

As per Arissa's reply, check whether any specific channel(s) are affected, there may be a pattern that you're not aware of.

  • Hi Melormouse 👋

Thank you for posting, welcoming you with big virtual arms to our community forum 🤗

Sorry to see your programs you try to record at a specific time are pixilated 😞

Please can you confirm does the recordings at that specific time ,only affect one channel or every channel your trying to record?

Have you tried recording live channels? If so what happens?

Let us know how you get on.
