Virgin wall port upstairs, how to connect tv downstairs?

I previously had virgin but cannot remember how we solved the coax issue. Can you utilise old ntl ports? Not sure how else to get the tv connected downstairs 🤔

  • Yes, assuming the ntl ports are still connected to the main socket outside you can use them.

  • Thanks for reaching out to us sanross, and a very warm welcome to our Community Forums!

Sounds like you're property would be well fitted for a Quickstart installation where requested.

Do however let us know if you require any further information or have additional queries and we'll be on hand to assist where possible.

    Thanks

Assuming this is a new install, you'll most likely have a TV360 box. This needs 3 connections..

1: Incoming co-ax provides the live TV feed

2: Connection to your home-hub provides an internet connection for OnDemand, streaming & various updates. Hardwired Ethernet is best, wireless can suffice.

3: HDMI to your TV and/or optical to your AV kit.

If the co-ax connection is in a different location to your TV, then your best solution will be to have a non-fault tech visit to install a new co-ax point. Normally this is a fixed £25 charge but may be waived in an install situation.

  • I would go with the engineer option if you are coming back to Virgin which as already mentioned by japitts should be free.

Apart from checking your signal levels are still all OK any unused connections should be fitted with terminator's to stop noise ingress into the system if they weren't fitted when previous equipment was removed and I don't believe Virgin send them out with the return packaging.
