Virgin 360 - Can you prevent the upgrade ?

Seems Virgin arent being straight from people,  got offered the 360 upgrade for free so took it.

Then when the new remote turns up, it says in the upgrade process deletes all your recordings, which, had I know I would never opted for it.

So I aborted the install, but the screen said the upgrade would happen regardless in the next 5 days.

I really dont want to lose the library of recordings I have built up.

Anyone know if there is a way to opt out or stop the upgrade process ?

    The process is not so much an upgrade as an outright conversion from one TV software platform (TiVo) to another (Horizon).

    Part of the conversion is a complete reformat of your hard drive, and no it can't be delayed. Start checking all your recordings for alternate availability, and start watching anything that is either not being re-broadcast or available via OnDemand.

    Also go through all your series links. TV360 only allows you set new series links when a programme is showing in the next 14days EPG. If there's no showing, you can't recreate the series link until there is - so start making notes.

    Worth noting that VM's recording facilities are not intended for long-term storage, only short-term timeshifting.

      About this being Horizon software?

      The very same ppl that caused the post office scandal .i hope this is NOT the case

        The Post Office Horizon software was designed & written by Fujitsu.

        TV360-Horizon software is designed by VM's parent company, Liberty Global.

    I know exactly how you feel mate. I actually had an issue with my previous box and it was replaced about by weeks ago which meant I’d lost about 5 years worth of stored recordings. I know some are available on catch-up but many aren’t, particularly a lot of sport I’d kept.  The bizarre thing with this is that we have come so far in terms of technology yet I still have VHS recordings from 1980 (!) that I can watch….yet I can’t watch a recording that I made 3 months ago that I might need to keep. Virgin will come out with all types of excuses as to why….but I would use this example. If I want to change my mobile phone contract and buy a new phone can you imagine what would happen if your new company said ‘We can change it but you will lose every single phone number, photo, and message that you had on your old one’.  You would tell them to stick it. So why can data be transferred on mobile phones but not on hard drives via the cloud…? It’s a joke.
