V6 box buzzing like a fridge

Recently ran through the update with the new remote.

Box is always whirring and buzzing now.

The "update with new remote" is a reformat of your V6 box (formerly running TiVo-software) and reinstall of Horizon-software, making your box a TV360 instead.

It's a completely different TV platform - I've moved your post to the TV360-specific section of the board.

I suspect you'll probably end up with your TV360 box being replaced.

None of the blurb explained that aspect of the upgrade.

      Very poor form from Virgin.

  • You aren't the only one who has had problems with the fan running at high speed after the 360 update, seems to be a common problem with some versions of the V6, the fix is to have the box replaced, you just need to convince someone how loud the box is.

You need to call Virgin on 150 from a Virgin phone, mobile or landline, or 0345 454 1111 from any other phone to report a fault, or wait here for one of the forum team to pick this up which might be 2 to 3 day's.

When phoning choose the option to report a fault, then ignore all the options offered and hopefully you should then be placed into a queue to speak to someone.

I doubt I'll be going through that elongated process but thanks anyway.

Maybe Tom_W1 (or one of the forum team) is can arrange an engineer visit for you to swap boxes.

  • Hi ConfusedCust thanks for your post here although we're sorry to hear of the concerns raised here.

We can definitely look into this for you, it seems that the box is obviously working a lot harder since the update and might be struggling if it's an older box.

Is this still happening for you? Please let us know if so and we can get the box replaced if necessary.

Yes, still continuing. Keep turning the box off. Can I have a postal address to return it to please as I don't wish to use it.
