    Short answer, no it's not.

A choice to convert from TiVo/V6 > TV360 is completely voluntary, but is also irreversible - save in some cases where misselling is highlighted.

Is there any particular feature of TV360 you're struggling with? Users familiar with it, may be able to point you in the right direction.

  • Hi pedromull,

Thank you for your post and welcome to the community.

As confirmed by japitts, we wouldn't be able to revert to the previous V6 box system.

If you don't mind us asking, why is it you wish to revert?

Possibly as he's missing all the below features,  and his recording were wiped. None of which he was warned about before agreeing to downgrade to 360.

      • Wishlists
      • undelete
      • series link+
      • series link manager
      • suggestions
      • skip-back on fast-forward
      • quickview
      • default recording options
      • cancelling individual recordings from a series link
      • multi-channel series links
      • allowing recording of radio
      • separation of recordings between boxes
      • watching recordings when internet is not available

      On our wavelength

We too wish we had not moved to 360. It was promoted as an upgrade but there was no hint that we would lose features we used all the time, such as the 10s jump back on fast forward, broadcast dates on programmes, series link controls, undelete, etc, etc. We have given the new interface a good try, in case it was just a case of getting used to something new, but we hav not found anything in 360 which we would call an improvement and many things we would like to have back from what we had before. We do feel we were " mis- sold" this as an "upgrade" when it is the opposite

I also wish I hadn't downgraded to the 360 box. It's an absolute abomination. And they're planning to ban us from recording our own TV. Hahaha.

I don't understand why they would switch from the best TV system in the world (TiVo) to an absolutely abominable system made by people who have absolutely no idea about television. It is clear that the people who designed this Virgin 360 TV system are of the Netflix generation and most probably have never used a cable TV box in their lives.

When the original Tivo box was swapped for V6/360 for the purpose of viewing netflix (by the sales team) at NO Time were we warned that doing so would push 360 to the main viewing V6 creating a platform described perfectly by Mr_K below and many others. Also the sound issues via hdmi when connecting to av amplifier.

    It cannot be done without:

    1) Replacing the boxes with refurb units.

    2) Rebuilding the account from scratch.

VM are not going to do this without very good reason.

VM are eventually moving away from traditional “broadcast” cable services to XGS-PON. This means the boxes that rely on it (both TiVO & V360) will be consigned to the scrap heap. The difference is that Horizon, that drives V360 also drives the new IPTV Stream (now called Flex) boxes, so you will see very little difference in the operation apart from losing recording capabilities.

  • As a matter of interest, I keep seeing mention that if you lose internet access, recordings can’t be watched on the 360. I don’t understand why this is if the recording is on the local hard drive?

The recording is on the hard drive, but TV360 relies on server-side indexing. So if access to that index is lost, then only recordings that have been started (and thus have local indexing) are accessible.

An old fashioned VCR/ VHS tape would be an 'upgrade' on the 360 then !

Some recordings aren't actually there its a link to stream the program/film in from the Virgin server. I have found my V6 box starts doing this as the hard drive gets full. Thats usually the time I start deleting stuff I've watched and don't want to keep.

Alas not. What you're describing is a VoD "bookmark" which is designed to look & feel like a recording, but be a shortcut to OnDemand.

These are only created in the following scenarios..

1: You find a programme in the EPG and click "create boookmark"

2: You have a series link which includes "streaming videos" under the "include" field

Your HDD capacity has nothing to do with it, unless all your existing recordings are set to "Keep until I delete", this causes recordings to fail but your SL is set to "recordings & streaming videos" and the shortcut is the result. Lose this specific set of circumstances, and it should not happen as you describe.
