Afternoon
For the second time within a month my 360 box has deleted all my saved recordings and planned recordings.

Any ideas?

thanks

    Hi roland-rat

Sorry to say but unless you have no recording space left so the box is automatically deleting recordings then it'sprobably  another hard drive issue and the box will need replacing.

You can check your recording space by going to Recordings > View All >  There is a percentage indicator in the top left hand corner so you can see how much HDD space has been used.

To turn off the  "keep or delete" option go to Recordings > Recorded > View all - then select Manage Storage (on the top row), Enter your pin number then it brings up a new screen where you can set your default options for deleting recordings (Auto-delete when space needed can be switched to Off or On.)

This function will automatically delete the oldest content when disk space is required for a new recording.  By default, it’ll be off for existing users but for new installs it’ll be on. (This may be why when the 360 gets to around 80% full some recordings fail, possibly depending on the length of the program, and older recordings are deleted)

You can also further fine tune recordings using the Fast Clean-up options in the same section.
If you have more than one main box select the box you wish to perform these actions on
From there you can :- Delete all fully watched programs.
Delete all recordings older than 6 months.
    Delete all recordings.
    Stop all future recordings.
    Delete and stop all recordings.

You can also protect shows and ensure they aren’t auto deleted when auto delete is turned on:
Saved > Recorded >  See All   Highlight (select) the program  by name and click on the  edit “pencil” icon on the right side of the bin (delete) icon, then either turn on or off Protect from auto-delete for that program.

If space is required for a new recording, unprotected recordings will be deleted using this logic: Watched, oldest to newest recording. Unwatched, oldest to newest. Content that is being watched at the time will not be deleted. And if all content is protected, the recording will fail indicating this as a reason

Hi roland-rat thanks for posting although we're sorry to hear of your concerns relating to your TV360 box.

The auto-delete function should help, but if you are wanting a replacement of the box later down the line then please come back to us here so we can assist with this for you.

        Many thanks

  • If the 360 has deleted your recordings and planned recordings it's a sign that the box is faulty, especially if it does it more than once. You can either call Virgin on 150 from a Virgin phone, mobile or landline, or 0345 454 1111 from any other phone to report a fault, or wait here for one of the forum team to pick this up which might be 2 to 3 day's.

You could also try a factory reset of the 360, and if you haven't got any recordings you might as well go for the format disk option and if or 'when' the box deletes everything again then phone Virgin.

You will need to sign in to your Apps again if you do a factory reset if you use either the keep recordings or the format option.

    They might suggest you set the Auto delete option to off, it probably already is and shouldn't affect planned recordings but you can check by doing the following;

Press Home > Recordings > Recorded > View All > Manage Storage > Enter your pin > Auto delete when space needed > Set to Off.

You can also do a quick check of the hard drive by pausing and rewinding live TV if that doesn't work then the box definitely needs replacing.

If it's a recently updated old Arris box then it's more than likely it's going to need replacing, the older original V6 boxes seem to have problems.

I have had my Humax box (the Humax box was the original box made for 360, I believe they have now gone back to Arris), for over 5 years without a problem.

Unfortunately if you have your box replaced you probably will get a refurbished box and I don't think they get properly checked looking at some of the post's on here, the hard drive should have a rewrite test not just a reformat.
