Sony tv remote 360 box

Hi all, my Sony remote has been happily controlling my 360 box for a few years until last week. Not sure why it has stopped. Reset all the settings using the tricks, box name ziggo, arris, pace but not working. Any idea 💡?

    Hi newApollo.

thanks for your information. Got to the bottom of the issue. The tv remote had lost the Bluetooth connection and was only operating the tv by IR. Unknown to me. I only realised when voice search was not working on you tube. I think the battery’s were low, and switched from Bluetooth to IR. But no battery low warning whivh was odd as normally happens. Anyway problem sorted now, back to using 1 remote now 👍

  • Hi Ntlavs 👋 welcome back to the community forum!

Thanks for posting to let us know about your Sony TV remote controlling the box. Is there a specific functionality that it's not working for? (For example volume, channel change, on/off?)

Usually your Virgin TV Box remote should work for all of these uses. It may be that there's been a new firmware update for the box that's changed compatibility with your Sony remote at the moment. Sadly the engineers that run these don't release any update notes so we wouldn't be able to confirm if that's the case - but please do keep an eye on things! We'd also recommend regularly rebooting the box completely from the wall switch.

Thanks for your patience whilst we try to get to the bottom of things! 🌞

Hi. Thanks for reply. The box has been very stable and very rare for me to re-boot. Sometimes it is on the preview channel so presume it rebooted overnight, but will try to re-boot when not recording and see if that works. Obviously I am using the 360 remote now, but I use many apps on the tv so used to using 1 remote. Will keep you posted 👍

        Hi Ntlavs

It's possible that your Sony TV has recently updated and part of the update has removed the functionality to control the VM 360 box.

I have two LG TV's, both different models and they have both received recent updates which has removed thier ability to control my TV360 boxes.

The older LGTV updated yesterday, and lost the ability to control the 360.

My LGC2 has received two updates within three weeks, the first update removed the ability to control the 360 and it the second update hasn't given the functionality back.

With the LG's it's often hit and miss as sometimes I can get them functioning again if I remove both the TV and the 360 box from the mains for 5 minutes.

It can be a real PITA as in the past removing the HDMI leads and reinserting them in different ports has worked. Also changing batteries or factory resetting either or both the LG TV's and LGTV Smart remotes has also re-enabled the ability to control the 360 again.

Also repeatedly setting up the function on the TV's (around a dozen times) has re-enabled the control of the 360 again.

With the LG's I generally find that entering Ziggo Mediabox  Next works, although Ziggo Set Top Box, and Ziggo Set-Top box has also worked. The odd time the LG's have also accepted Virgin as the device without having to further refine it as Arris DCX960 or DCX960 or CRC2400
